Dr. Thalia Anagnos is a former San José State University engineering professor and administrator. She earned her PhD in civil engineering with an emphasis in earthquake engineering from Stanford University. She has focused her research on regional losses from future earthquakes and the risk due to the collapse of older concrete buildings in earthquakes. She has served as the President of the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute, which is the leading non-profit membership organization dedicated to understanding earthquake risk and increasing earthquake resilience in communities worldwide. At SJSU, she taught a range of courses in mechanics, statistics and probability, design, and technical writing, and served as Vice Provost of Undergraduate Education.
